Grayson Lake : Cincy Paddlers, led by Henry D., visited Grayson lake in eastern Ky. The lake fell nearly 8 feet just hours before our arrival. The previous muddy water level can still be seen in shoreline trees and cliff walls. Rains earlier that week created many waterfalls. It was an awesome trip.

Sara Care 2010 : Sara Care is an annual event held in Berea, Kentucky, to raise funds in the memory of Sara kennedy who passed away in 2005, at age eighteen after her fight with cancer. Funds raised go to Children's Hospital of Kentucky. Sara's parents, Norma and Eddy, do a fantastic job of hosting the event every year. The event includes a raffle of hundreds of door prizes, spaghetti dinner and a free concert that includes new talent from Nashville, Tn. I am honored to have been asked to photograph the 2010 event.

Ohio River Kayak 21 Feb 2010 : Went Kayaking on the Ohio River on Sunday, 21 Feb 2010 at 12:45 PM from the Suspemsion Bridge in Covington, Ky, upriver to Dayton, Ky. Water temperature was 35 degrees, river level 28 feet, winds calm. The paddle upriver was against a moderate current that required constant paddling to move forward at a walking speed. I watched people on shore walk faster than what I was paddling. I floated back down river enjoying the view.

Lunken Airport Hike 30 Jan 2010 : Tri-State Hikers visited Lunken airport on a cold winter day with a wind chill of 6. We visited the old terminal building and the aviation museum inside. Then it was off to visit the 1788 Pioneer Cemetery across the street. Following that, a 5 mile hike around the Lunken Airfield trail.

It has been fun throughout the years but I stopped shooting in 2007 for a much needed break. I missed the excitement of shooting weddings where photos are unpredictable. It just happens. Wedding photography is 95% people skills and 5% camera skills. Events happen by the second and your skills are always put to the test. Osborne : Osborn was a small city located immediately north and east of the West Ramp at Wright-Pat. Present day gate 26C would be "downtown" and the Fairborn Drive In and the small cemetary off the end of the runway are all that remain of Osborn. Most of the homes were situated where the quarry is now located. Osborn was moved in the early 1920s when dams were built to control severe flooding to the City of Dayton. The new Huffman dam put Osborn in a flood plain. Many of the homes were physically moved to nearby Fairfield which changed its name to Fairborn as a sign of the two cities coming together. The railroad tracks that ran through Osborn and along what is now the flightline were moved to their present location that runs through Fairborn. The last known living resident of Osborn died in 2007.

C-5 January Sunrise 2008 : These photos were taken on a January morning in 2008 through a chain link fence from the Operations Building. It was 60 degrees in the morning and 20 degrees that night so it was the beginning of a stormy day. That old saying "red in the morning means sailor's warning" was true. I could tell it was going to be a colorful sunrise so I positioned myself early. The whole sequence of these photos were taken in less than 3 minutes as the colors came and departed quite quickly.

Thanksgiving in Indiana at "the cabin". : Every other year, Joan invites us to her cabin in Indiana to celebrate Thanksgiving. Buried deep in a pine forest, the solitude is deafening. A great way to celebrate a quiet Holiday. It was a great opportunity to take lots of photos and photoshop them later. The duplicates are the original first with variations following.
